Vegetarians and Vegans everywhere may have just received a blessing in the form of artificial meat. Beyond Meat and it’s founder Ethan Brown, maker of plant based Chicken and Ground Beef, have revolutionized the market of alternative meats. Outside of the realm of Soy/Tofu being molded to taste like chicken, Beyond Meat has figured out how to mimic not only flavor, but more importantly the texture of conventional meat.
The secret was figuring out what meat is actually made of, what gives it it’s grain of texture, it’s flavor, etc. Most importantly, they figured out that all the nutrients that meat is composed of can be found occurring naturally in various plants and vegetables. Now, to make that perfect vege steak, they have to figure out the proper combination of veges and processing method to recreate an accurate look, feel, and flavor.
