Sustainability has a become a hot topic among many health conscious communities, especially at the current levels of pollution and contamination currently plaguing the planet. With emissions being a major point of concern, researchers at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona have created an aesthetically pleasing biological concrete, that lowers CO2, regulates inside temps, and grows a strong variety of mosses, lichens, fungi and other biological organisms!
As with most things in nature, the concrete consist of several layers. Working together to absorb, store, and repel water, all while keeping the concrete solid and simultaneously allowing life to grow.
