Surry Events features a distinctive and iconic barn located on the Coast of Maine that has been renovated into a performance and meeting space. The Barn was the home of the Surry Opera Co in the 1980s and 1990s and was featured in photo essay articles in the New York Times, People Magazine and Downeast Magazine as well as network TV.

History Of The Barn
For over 50 years the barn has housed musical performances. For the part 30 years it has been the home of the internationally acclaimed Surry Oper Company (SOC). It was founded by visionary musical powerhouse Walkter Nowick in the 1980s during the height of the Cold War. Nowick believed music would foster peace and bring people together despite what their governments did. SOC performed worldwide including Russia and Japan. It also hosted opera companies from these countries at the Barn.
