No, the title isn’t intended to troll or deceive.  It’s a loosely accurate description of what a group of fisherman found off the coast of Chile! Not just a few plants either, I’m talking a field of Aquatic Mary Jane.

But How?

According to researchers, this strain has a naturally occurring genetic defect, which probably the reason is was able to survive while submerged.  However, it was the combination of small hydrothermal vents in the proximity and being strategically located in an area that allotted enough sunlight for photosynthesis to occur, (epipelagic) that created the uniquely perfect conditions for the field to thrive.

Who Put It There?

Cannabis cultivation in Chile is amongst some of the oldest in the worldAllegedly, the Spaniards introduced the western hemisphere to hemp cultivation in 1545.  Of course, they were a naval power at the time and were known to over grow in order to have enough for their return.  The true definition of Seaweed.
